The Chatham Chorale
Thank you for your interest in membership in the Chorale.
The Chatham Chorale is an auditioned community chorus of about 90 singers, performing music of all types in various venues on Cape Cod. We have members from throughout the Cape – from Sandwich to Chatham and Marstons Mills to Wellfleet. Our music director is Joseph Marchio, and our president is Bud Ferris.
Typically, September is the month we announce our season, invite new members, hold auditions, and begin rehearsals for our Cape Cod performances. As we all know, the past year and a half have not been “normal”. Our 2019/2020 Season was cut short in March 2020 due to the Covid 19 / Coronavirus, and similarly the 2020/2021 season was cancelled completely to protect the safety of our singers and audiences. Throughout this time off, we have continued to plan behind the scenes for a restart of in-person rehearsals and performances to celebrate our 50th Anniversary Season.
I am happy to announce that We’re Back !! We look forward to singing together once again, and to sharing the experience with you.
As a Potential New Member, we hope that you will sing with us for two or three rehearsals, and then audition. If you decide to proceed, the audition music and other instructions will be provided. A yearly membership fee is collected after successful completion of your audition. The amount is determined annually by the Board of Directors.
Please note: All participants must provide Proof of full Covid 19 vaccination to visit, audition, register, rehearse, or perform with the Chatham Chorale. Masks are also required.
Regular rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, from 7 pm to 9 pm at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 310 Route 137, Harwich, MA. Occasionally, additional rehearsals may be held on another evening of the week, usually Mondays, to concentrate on specific repertoire. While all members are encouraged to sing in all our season performances, you can choose the concerts in which you will participate.
Traditionally, members are permitted to miss a maximum of two rehearsals for any one concert. However, the health and well-being of all our singers and audiences are paramount, especially during this ongoing pandemic. If you are symptomatic, or concerned that you have been exposed, contact the Membership Chairperson, and stay home. Additional absences for illness or travel may be permitted with the approval of the music director. Note: one or two rehearsals just before a performance are considered mandatory dress rehearsals.
For further information or to give us a try, please contact me by e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.
